About Me

My name is Taylor Meadows and I am currently a sophomore. I came to the University of South Carolina- Lancaster (USCL) in the fall of 2017 to pursue a Bachelor in Science of Nursing (BSN). Prior to attending this rural, commuter college, I never expected to be provided the opportunities I have been granted at USCL. I am an executive member of the Research Club, a student assistant to the Math, Science, Nursing, and Public Health division chair, and an active member of the Student Nursing Association. When I am not focusing my efforts on academic pursuits, I enjoy participating in community service though church events and teaching bible school to children.
I recently was accepted into the Upper Division of Nursing School through USC-Columbia that I will begin in the fall of 2019. USC has been rated number 1 in the State. Going to the best school and graduating with nurses of the same skill set as I, it is imperative to be distinct from my classmates and fellow nurses. I have spent the last two years of college enthralled in all forms of the human anatomy. In my lower division classes for nursing we focused on two major components: how the body functions and how to recognize when the body is not functioning correctly. I was intrigued to learn that my two professors, Dr. Sarah Sellhorst and Dr. Elizabeth Easley, specialized in body composition. I began earning the research pathway in GLD last spring by working as a student assistant for Drs. Sellhorst and Easley on the SMART (Student Mobile Anthropometric Research Team) Study. The SMART Study is an IRB certified student study that encompasses health indicators and body composition on full-time, traditional, college-age students. I have continued my journey in research in writing abstracts and grant applications, such as the Magellan Scholar.
Upon obtaining my BSN degree, I plan on continuing my education, immediately following graduation, to specialize in pediatrics and gastroenterology. Then work towards receiving a Doctor of Philosophy of Nursing Education. I want to help teach, encourage, and mentor our future nurses to be the best that they can be.
